Shameless benefits mum of 11 blasts critics – says 12th baby Facebook post was a joke

A mother of 11 – who rakes in £28,378 in benefits and tax credits despite the fact her husband earns £1,600 a month as a delivery driver – today hit back at critics after she joked she was expecting her 12th child.

Cheryl Prudham, 32, who lives in Gravesend with her husband Rob and 11 children, told Closer in October last year it was easy to claim benefits and said she had always wanted a bigger family.

“It's the government's fault I've got so many kids,” she said.

“It's easy to claim benefits. I've always wanted a big family and being a mum is the best feeling in the world. We didn't rush into the decision to have more children lightly but we knew we'd be able to afford it because we'd get more in child tax credits and child benefit.”

But earlier today, Cheryl – who gave birth to twins in August – hit the headlines again after sharing a picture of an ultrasound scan on Facebook with the caption, “Prudham Baby #12”.

The photograph sparked outrage with people calling her behaviour “disgusting”.

Another wrote: “Many people work hard all their lives aspiring to earn £38,000 per annum and here we have a couple who get 'given' that amount for being totally irresponsible.”

A friend close to the family told the Sun, “I don't know if they'll ever stop. They just keep on having more and more.”

However, when Cheryl was questioned she hit back at the newspaper, saying: “Print any more f_ing stories about me and I swear to God, yeah, I'll smash your f_ing face in,” before uploading another photograph to the social networking site which read, “The jokes on you”.
