That’s right, you needn’t worry about something toothy taking a bite out of you while you swim in tropical climes - because you’re more likely to die from taking a SELFIE than being bitten by a shark.

Statistically, more people have died in 2015 from selfie fails than from the predators in the ocean, with 12 people already having perished from ill-fated self portraits.

In Russia, the situation became so bad that the government released a guide on how not to die while taking a photo of yourself.

This included - not standing in front of trains while you take selfies, on the edges of boats, while holding a loaded gun, while climbing - the list goes on.

Yellowstone National Park has also had problems - with five people gored recently after they tried to take selfies with wildlife.

By contrast, only eight shark related deaths have been reported in 2015.

Be smart, people. Don’t take dangerous selfies.
