Sean McAnna, who was a friend of David Miller, wrote a Facebook post that the owner of a bar on Koh Tao was responsible for the pair’s death.

McAnna also uploaded images of men who had approached him telling him that the Thai mafia were trying to kill him. The posts have since been deleted.

‘They said to me: “It was you who killed them, we know it was you”…I think they need a scapegoat’ he told a newspaper.

Chillingly, they then added: “You’re going to hang yourself tonight, we’re going to watch you hang,” so I just ran.’

Sean fled the island following the altercation, but in a shock twist, has now been revealed as having a criminal past of his own.

According to the Scottish Record, Sean pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children last year in his native Scotland.

He was ordered to complete a community payback order of 170 hours following his guilty plea.

Earlier last week, Sean had posted a tribute to his friend David on his Facebook page, writing: ‘I loved you so f****** much brother. I know you tried to save her. You are the most honourable guy I’ve ever met.’

Other travellers to Koh Tao have confirmed that a lot of the island is controlled by powerful ‘mafia-like families.’

Hannah and David were found dead on a beach on the island last Monday. They had been badly beaten and Miller had been dragged into the sea. Police are now allegedly testing the DNA of every man on the island to determine the killer.
