Daniel persuaded his mother to let him attend a party in south London, reportedly saying: ‘Come on, Mum, I hardly ever go to parties and I am sensible and responsible.’

But instead of heading to the party in Clapham, Daniel attended an illegal rave in west London instead.

Daniel was a sixth form student at Archbishop Tenison’s Church of England High School in Croydon.

He lived nearby with his Mum, Dad and older brother Jacob.

Speaking from their home following Daniel’s tragic death, his parents revealed: ‘this is all so unreal. I don't know how I can go on.’

Daniel's mum, Fiona, told The MailOnline how she had taught Daniel about the dangers of taking drugs, as had teachers at his school.

She said: ‘Daniel had never taken drugs before. It is not the kind of thing he did. He knew the risks.’

She continued: ‘Danny always used to say, 'I love you too mum, I promise I won't die.' That's exactly what he said when he went out on Friday. He didn't keep that promise. But he didn't know. If he had, he wouldn't have done it.’

Daniel was rushed to hospital after collapsing shortly after taking the class-A drug.

His temperature shot up to dangerous levels, causing him to suffer a massive heart attack. He was then put on a life support machine, but sadly passed away.

Daniel’s school sent a letter of condolence following the student’s passing.

It read: ‘we began Monday knowing that Daniel Spargo-Mabbs, one of our Year 12 students, who has been with us in the school since Year Seven, was in a critical condition on a life support machine. At lunch time he died. In the afternoon we spoke to each year group in turn, starting with his own, to tell them the terrible news.’

Daniel's mum, Fiona, has been left in shock.

‘Today we begin again, knowing that our school and the world is the poorer without him. Today is too soon to do anything more than react to the brutal fact that we have lost Daniel.’

Daniel’s mum described what happened to Daniel as her ‘worst nightmare come true.’

Fiona described Daniel as 'full of life.'

‘Daniel was so full of life and I don’t understand how he can be gone.’

Two teenage men aged 18 and 19 are reportedly now in custody after they were arrested for supplying controlled drugs.

Daniel’s family hope that those responsible for supplying him the drug will be brought to justice.
