If you have been gripped by BBC 1’s Three Girls, then you will recognise the name Sara Rowbotham as the real-life sexual health worker who fought tirelessly to help the girls trapped in the child-grooming horror in Rochdale.

She has been applauded for her continuous whistle-blowing and providing the girls with support during the horrendous events and this was shown in the BBC1 adaptation. Sara’s character was played by Maxine Peake.

Now Sara Rowbotham is to appear on telly herself… as a contestant of Channel 4’s First Dates! Well, she sure does have a massive heart!

The sexual health worker explained to the show, ‘The story was sensational and tragic and awful and shook the world.’

‘I’m coming out of a very difficult, dark time. I’m ready to start to live my life again where I haven’t been for such a long time. And be able to just have nice times and not be so stressed or worried or anxious or angry. To be carefree.’

We wish her the best of luck on her quest for lurrrve. We all deserve some happiness and Sara Rowbotham sure as hell needs a massive slab of that cake. What a lady.

Sara's First Dates episode will be broadcast at 10pm 23 May.
