Last week, #TheDress that divided the world managed to break the Internet and make headlines across the globe.

Now, the Salvation Army have brought #TheDress back to our attention but in the form of a powerful anti-domestic violence campaign.

The charity shared an image of a woman wearing the dress, but in the white and gold version, writing next to it: ‘Why is it so hard to see black and blue?’

The black and blue that they were referring to are the bruises covering the model’s body, including her face where she is pictured with a black eye.

The Salvation Army South Africa tweeted the sobering image, writing: “Why is it so hard to see black and blue? One in 6 women are victims of abuse.”

A charity spokesperson told a South African newspaper: “They linked it to the work TSA [the Salvation Army] does with abused women and children and trafficked women.

“We have two homes for abused women and children, Carehaven in Cape Town and Beth Shan in Johannesburg. TSA in South Africa brings awareness to this problem, which is huge.”

Domestic violence is a massive problem around the world, affecting millions of women, children and men across the globe every week.
