According to reports, the south of England and parts of Wales will be worse affected by the dust/sand cloud.
Experts have even warned those without breathing problems to avoid exercising outdoors as air pollution is set to hit 10 out of 10 levels.
Doctors are also recommending that adults, children and elderly people with heart problems avoid exercise until the cloud passes.
Asthma UK chief executive Kay Boycott warned the UK’s 5.4 million asthma sufferers to take care over the next day or so.
‘The two thirds of people with asthma who find that air pollution makes their asthma worse will be at an increased risk of an attack.’
Medical director for Public Health England Dr Paul Cosford spoke about the health implications of the smog, telling BBC Radio 4 viewers: ‘Clearly this is a serious issue.’
He continued: ‘We are having a small number of days where we have very high air pollution levels. For the vast majority of people it will cause no harm.’
