If there’s one thing we know about parents of 2015, it’s this; they can’t resist a truly unusual baby name.
From Disney names to motor car monikers (yes, Audi and Royce made the Top 100 Most Unusual Baby Names Of 2015), parents have been searching far and wide for their little ones’ names this year.
And now, as it turns out, there’s even more of an incentive to err on the side of the… term, unique.
Yup; if you’re open to allowing a company to name your baby, there’s a lot of free food up for grabs.
BJ’s Restaurants tweeted: “Would you name your baby Quinoa?
“We’ll give you $10,000 of free food if you do!”
Speaking in a press release, they elaborated further on their crazy idea.
“We are so excited to introduce these amazing new Quinoa Bowls that we wanted to do something big, maybe even a little crazy,” Kevin Mayer, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for the chain said. “
At the end of the day, we think Quinoa could be a great baby name.
“And who knows? Maybe it will start a trend.”
The name, pronounced “KEEN-wah”, refers to the healthy wholegrain option to rice and couscous.
And, while the vegan favourite has been making a name for itself as a superfood, it doesn’t seem as if it’s going to do the same in the world of children’s names anytime soon.
Because, looking at responses to the tweet, it seems as if parents are furious rather than intrigued…
‘Nuff said.
Would you ever consider letting a company name your baby in exchange for free food?
