Rescue workers protect dying man from onlookers filming last moments

Rescue workers have described their disappointment after they had to form a barrier around a dying man - to make sure onlookers didn’t film him.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a crash where a man was trapped inside his vehicle.

The man, who was in his 20s, had rolled the car after colliding with a bollard, and had to be cut free from his car.

But despite the tragic circumstances, shockingly the rescue workers had to form a barrier to stop the dying man being filmed or photographed.

Firefighter Erroll Tapiki said that there were a lot of people milling around the scene of the crash to try and catch a glimpse of what happened.

‘There’s not a lot we can do about social media now, except try and protect the privacy of the person that is trapped, injured or whatever,’ he told news crews.

According to reports, the man had been drinking with friends before the crash, lost control and careered into a timber bollard.

He sustained ‘very serious’ injuries and had to be cut from the wreckage who unresponsive.
