Police explained to the New York Daily News that Rebecca Arthur, 17, boarded a plane from New York’s JFK Airport on Monday after “pulling a fast one on her mother.”

She allegedly had tricked her mother into believing that she was going to stay with a friend in California.

But, once she had kissed her mother goodbye, the teen boarded a plane to Casablanca.

Sergeant Jeremiah Dunn of the Clinton Police Department told the press: “We don't know what her motive was, why she flew to Morocco.

“Was it for suspicious intent or was it for love, we don't know.”

Police suspect that Rebecca intended to meet with one Simo El Adala, whom has been listed as being ‘in a relationship’ with the teen on Facebook since February.

Sergeant Dunn added: "We don't even know if this is a real person".

Nobody knows Rebecca’s whereabouts at this time, leaving police to fear that she is in ‘extreme danger’.

Rebecca Arthur is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet tall, 150 pounds, with blue eyes and blonde hair with red highlights.

She was last seen wearing black yoga pants, a black sleeveless shirt and pink, blue and white Nike sneakers.

She was traveling with a red suitcase.

The Clinton Police Department is urging anyone with information on Arthur, El Adala or their whereabouts to contact them at 860-669-0451.
