It's suppose to be one of the happiest days of your life, getting engaged. However Mzznaki Tetteh, a Ghanian nurse and student, and her fiancé Kojo Amoah's engagement was ruined when cyber bullies criticised Mzznaki's body shape.
The cute couple had a photoshoot to celebrate their engagement and announced their engagement to the world through social media.
Mzznaki captioned one photo 'He's always got my back...thanks bby', and another 'My shield...awww'.
They both appear to be as happy as any newly-engaged person, but when Mzznaki uploaded the picture below on Instagram with the caption 'Yaaaaayyyyee😎✌' instead of receiving messages of congratulations she received lots of nasty fat shaming comments.
One comment read: "What's sad is we’re suppose to accept people looking like this! She needs to get on a diet ASAP! This girl isn’t gonna look “beautiful” in a wedding dress like this. People feel embarrassed for you not sorry but embarrassed'.
Another cruely joked : "He just caught himself a 400 pounder right there!!!!"
But instead of letting the negativity get her down, the bride-to-be brushed off the negative comments and remained confident when she uploaded a photo with the caption: "Still confident...your rubbish comments ain't ruining my happiness...thanks to all for the compliments and best wishes...am honoured. "
And when asked by Revelist about her reply to the body-shaming comments she replied: “Lol, that’s just me”.
Fiancé Kojo, also seems to brush off the negativity surrounding the photoshoot when he told GhanaWeb: "To me, I have always been a fan of plus size women and I am so proud of my woman and I don’t care about what anybody says out there."
Since this post, she has gained over 32,000 followers and if you check out her Instagram page you’ll see hundreds of comments adoring her confidence and body size.
One of her followers said: "Don't listen to the haters you look absolutely amazing! Congrats on your wedding, hope you share the pictures on Instagram."
Another said: "Just ignore all the haters because they don't have HALF the confidence and self love you have!"
And we couldn't agree more. She is an inspiration to all women, we should embrace our body shapes no matter what size or shape.
