Marcus Gray, 19, was out celebrating in Oxford with a friend, Alex, who was about to go travelling.
But as the night wore on, and Marcus got more and more drunk, he sent a text to his pal asking whereabouts he’d got to. 'Are you in town' he asked.
Evidently giving up on his friend after a while, Marcus stumbled home, and quickly checked his texts to make sure his pal wasn’t looking for him.
But upon opening his messages he found a suspiciously familiar message waiting for him.
‘Are you in town’ it read.
Replying to what he thought was his friend, Marcus wrote: ‘Nah mate I’m home now’ in reply, before presumedly passing out.
But when he awoke, Marcus realised he had in fact just been replying to the text he sent to his friend.
Sharing his experience on Twitter, the error quickly received thousands of favourites and retweets.
‘I showed my friends and they were all laughing so I though I’d just put it on Twitter - it’s crazy how it’s exploded,’ said Marcus.
