Ella Porter says she often misses him tucking her in at night, because he is struck on a delayed commute home.

Her father, Neil Porter, travels between Uckfield, East Sussex, and London Bridge every weekday, but the unreliable train service between these two places means Ella often misses out on that all important kiss goodnight for her Dad.

In a letter to Southern Rail, she wrote: ‘My dad is always late home and I miss him very much. Please get him home on time. Daddy says you take all his money that is why I can’t go to Disneyland. I really want to go to Disneyland.’

Due to a new timetable for the rail company, the past two weeks has seen regular delayed, suspended and cancelled trains.

‘My dad is always late home and I miss him very much. Please get him home on time.'

According to official figures, not one of Southern’s 7.29am commuter trains between Brighton and London Victoria were on time last year.

Neil spends £4,000 a year commuting to work in Shoreditch, where he works as a graphic designer.

‘I love spending time with her and she gets upset when I miss her bedtime,’ explains Neil.

‘This has happened a lot as of late because of Southern Rail and their long delays.’

We hope this little girl gets the daddy time she so desperately needs soon!
