Mothers have been left outraged after a woman was asked to stop breastfeeding during a visit to fast food chain restaurant McDonalds.

Several mums turned up to the event and breastfed their children during the sit in to show ‘solidarity’ with the woman who was shamed by a security guard.

The Hungarian woman- who remains unnamed- reportedly posted on Facebook:“"I fed my baby at home before I set out, in order to avoid this [breast-feeding in public], but it was 30C (86F) and my baby was very hot and thirsty.

"I went into the restaurant at nine in the morning and looked around for a quiet spot where I wouldn't disturb anyone.

"I asked a waitress and she said it would be fine."

The incident took place at a McDonalds in Hungary

She was then told by the security guard that feeding her child was ‘not acceptable’ and told to stop.

Whilst attending the protest, mother-of-three Erika Schmidt told the BBC:“"Very few women nurse their babies in public in Hungary, because they are afraid they will be harassed or treated disrespectfully.

"This was the first time women have gathered to show their solidarity to each other - it was marvellous."

Following the sit in McDonalds said they were investigating the claims that a security guard had told the mother to stop breastfeeding.

They said in a statement: “Women are welcome to breastfeed in McDonald’s restaurants as part of the fast food chain’s family- friendly policy.”
