Virginia Roberts - referred to in court papers as Jane Doe Number 3 - alleges she was forced by financier Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, to have sex with Prince Andrew when she was 17.
She continued to make a series of claims in her first sworn court statement, including one which alleged that the prince took part in an orgy with nine teenage girls who "seemed and appeared to be under the age of 18 and didn’t really speak English".
The Duke of York has always denied the claims and Buckingham Palace have also issued denials on his behalf, insisting that they are "categorically untrue" and lack "any foundation".
Now, in his first public appearance since the claims were made, Prince Andrew has spoken out against the allegations made by Virginia Roberts.
Speaking at a World Economics Forum, he said: "Firstly I think I must, and want, for the record, to refer to events that have taken place in the last few weeks.
"I just wish to reiterate and to reaffirm the statements that have already been made on my behalf by Buckingham Palace.
"My focus is on my work and this evening's reception allows me to tell you about just a couple of the initiatives that I have founded and am passionate about."
The prince is not facing any legal proceedings over the claims made in the US case.
