CLOSER SPEAKS TO 'THE PAEDOPHILE HUNTER'

Speaking at a professional conduct hearing, teaching assistant Ellen Sheldon, who was in the classroom at the time, sobbed while giving evidence about the boy, referred to as Pupil A.

She was quoted by The Mirror as saying: “There was a fight between Pupil A and another child.

“Pupil A was put into a restraint by Mr Meredith on to the bean bag.

“I didn’t see how he got from there to under the bean bag.

“I could see his feet kicking and he was shouting ‘Get off, get off’.

“I would estimate he was under the bean bag for four to five minutes.”

“It’s made me feel ill.”

The panel was told the bean bag was the size of a double bed, reports Wales Online.

Mr Meredith faces seven charges of professional misconduct, including holding down two pupils - aged 10 or 11 - with their faces against the carpet.

He denies all the claims against him.

The hearing in Cardiff continues.
