We now joke that he was late for his first day at school as he was born after the bell

The 30 year-old was working at Manford Primary School in Chigwell when she went into labour a week early.

Three of the teacher’s colleagues had to act as improvised midwives to help deliver her second child, Jonah, after she came out of a morning meeting.

The proud mother joked: ‘We now joke that he was late for his first day at school as he was born after the bell.

‘The school have named the room he was born in after him - it's now called Jonah's Room.’

Mrs Krish-Veeramany’s called her husband to pick her up, and the baby was delivered in 20 minute with the help of teaching assistants Dita Gojnovci, Chris Sword and Sam Mustafa.

Everyone at the school was extremely excited

One was on the phone to Mr Vijaye Veeramany, another spoke to the hospital, and a third to an ambulance.

Mrs Krish-Veeramany said: ‘Everyone was so supportive and just acted on instinct.’

She added: ‘Luckily, my husband got to the school before I gave birth.’

The new mum was taken by paramedics to Queen's Hospital, in Romford, and was later allowed to take Jonah home.

She said she had been planning to finish work on Friday before taking a week off ahead of her due date.

Fran Goodwins, who was part of the ambulance crew called out to the school at 9am, said they were ‘absolutely delighted for the family.’

‘Everyone at the school was extremely excited,’ she added
