According to CBS New York, Lakeeya Walker - who is about seven weeks pregnant - was walking into a building where she works when a man held the door open for her.

The 22-year-old didn't say anything to the man, which is when things turned violent.

She told the site: "He was mad that I didn’t say thank you, so he called me an ungrateful b***h."

The young mum-to-be said she told the man that she did not need him to hold the door, and added that he did not need to speak to her in such a fashion.

“Then he takes his cup of coffee – he was drinking a cup of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee – and he throws it at me in my face,” she said.

Lakeeya claims that the man then dragged her out of the building and pinned her against a gate, where he continued his frenzied attack.

Explaining how he then threw her to the ground, she added: "I’m kicking, kicking, kicking, trying to, like, protect myself. He’s kicking me on the stomach, and while he’s doing this, he says to me, ‘I’m going to kick that baby out your womb."

Thankfully, Lakeeya managed to survive the attack and was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

At the hospital, a doctor told her they detected a blood clot in the foetus, likely caused by the beating.

She said emotionally: "The doctor told me that I had a blood clot by the baby's head.

"He said the blood clot could go away, but as of now, there's a blood clot by the baby's head, and I was in sobs."

Lakeeya has since said that she feels she was specifically targeted by this man, telling ABC7 that she questions how the man - a complete stranger - knew she was pregnant when she was only 7 weeks along.

"It's crazy I don't know this man. How does he know I'm with child?" she said.

Police are continuing their investigation.
