A heavily pregnant woman has spoken of her humiliation at being barred from using a toilet in Burger King because her partner was still waiting to be served.
Karen Gunner did not have a receipt so was refused entry to the facilities in Brighton until she could prove she would be purchasing food. Her partner was queueing at the time.
“It's quite obvious I'm pregnant and I specifically pointed it out to them – but she just said 'sorry that's our policy,” Karen, 31, told the Mirror.
“As I was unable to use the toilet we had to leave before my partner ordered our lunch. I was left feeling extremely embarrassed at being turned away from using the toilet.
“The whole thing just felt so silly and it was really quite embarrassing. They could see we were waiting.”
Earlier this year, another pregnant customer was left in tears after being told she would have to pay to use a toilet in a branch in North Street.

Since the incident Burger King have apologised and in a statement said: “I would like to assure you that all pregnant women, whether they are customers or not, are allowed to use our washrooms at all times.
“It appears that one of the temporary Christmas staff was not informed about the policy. I have phoned the restaurant manager and discussed this unacceptable situation with him.”
