Fitness enthusiast Lea-Anne Ellison triggered outrage in September last year when she posted photos of herself on Facebook lifting heavy weights - just two weeks before her due date.

But now the 35-year-old mother of three has hit back at her haters again, revealing that she returned to the gym just three weeks after the birth of her youngest son Skyler.

Speaking with the MailOnline, she said: "I started back at CrossFit three weeks after my son was born.

"I did not go very hard as my body was still healing but I was so happy to be back to my program."

She added that she is happy to have her figure back, saying: "I know, for me, that keeping strong and fit during pregnancy, and eating a diet full of fresh organic food has been key to my success in gaining my figure back.

"And no sugar! Sugar will keep a mommy tummy on a lady forever!"

Lea-Anne insists that, when she fell pregnant, she was told by doctors it was absolutely okay to go ahead with her workout regime: "To discontinue would have been a disservice to my body and my unborn baby."

And now, in response to some of her critics, the fitness fanatic has taken to Facebook to tell haters where to go:

"I hope to inspire other ladies to be healthy and fit while pregnant and after. If you don't like it, sit your ass on a couch and eat a donut."

Most medical experts say it is absolutely fine to continue with exercise throughout your pregnancy, with the Mayo Clinic stating: "Regular exercise can help you stay in shape, better cope with the physical changes of pregnancy and build stamina for the challenges ahead."
