An investigation has been launched after a baby was found buried alive in bike rubble near a bike path in LA on Friday.

Two women alerted police when they heard muffled crying near a Compton riverbed, and when officers attended the scene they were shocked to discover a 36-48-hour-old baby buried underneath asphalt.

The little girl, who was cold to the touch, was quickly taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The little girl is now in a stable position and will stay in hospital for observation.

Police have appealed for information on the infant’s mother.
