Officer Todd Frazier (seen above) has taken to Facebook to share the amazing moment his dog saved him from a potentially deadly situation.

Frazier was looking into a suspiciously parked car in Mississippi when three men attacked him.

Unable to fend off the trio, Frazier started to get dragged into the woods by his attackers.

But in a moment of luck and quick thinking, he managed to open the boot of his car with his remote key, releasing his police dog Lucas.

The clever creature sensed Frazier was in danger, biting one of the attackers before chasing the others off.

Speaking about the incident, chief deputy Don Bass revealed:

"They told him they were going to slit his throat, and they were dragging him toward the woods."

Thankfully Frazier was only treated for minor injuries and released soon afterwards.

The attackers, believed to be connected to local gangs, escaped in the car being investigated.

Chief deputy Don told the Clarion-Ledger: ‘The main thing for anybody is to go home safe, we want you to go home at night.’

All hail Lucas!
