A company in China has come under fire after telling female members of staff that they must get pregnant ‘on schedule’ or risk being fined.

Bosses told staff that they must ‘book’ their pregnancies ‘in advance’.

The shocking notice went viral after it was shared on social media last week.

It read: "An employee birth plan has been established and will be strictly enforced.

“Employees who do not give birth according to the plan and whose work is impacted will face a one-time fine of 1,000 yuan and will not be considered for promotion.”

Staff must fall pregnant 'on schedule'

The rules have been described as an infringement of workers’ human rights by commentators.

The company defended it’s practice, claiming that such rules were enforced for decades in China.

During the 20th century, policies required staff to seek approval from employers before getting married, getting divorced and having children.

Most of these practices have been abolished, causing staff to fight back against the shocking new requirements.
