The athlete collapsed within seconds of crossing the finish line and was taken away in a wheelchair to receive medical attention.
Mo fell awkwardly at the 6 mile mark of the race but continued to finish second behind Kenyan runner Geoffrey Mutai at 61 minutes and 8 seconds.
Despite the dramatic conclusion to the race, Mo was in good spirits.
He later said: ‘I feel good. I just tried so hard in the race. It's not a big deal.’ 'When I fell, I fell pretty hard. I told myself "don't rush" but when I saw the gap, the gap was big.’
The athlete is set to take part in the London marathon in April.
'Conditions here today were very cold. London won't be as cold as this,’ he said. 'It would have been nice to win today… Nothing changes for London - I will just keep training.'
The 13.1 mile race was Mo’s first race since taking part in the Great North Run last year.
Mo’s trainers revealed that his collapse may have been down to the stark change in running conditions.
The athlete had been training at high altitude in Kenya before running the half marathon in freezing conditions in New York.
