Well forgetting to reply to someone could now be a thing of the past.

A new update on Whatsapp will allow you to 'unread' a message, simply by tapping and holding down the conversation.

A little green spot will then appear, showing the message as unread in your app.

However… the status inside the message will remain unchanged for the sender, so there'll be no fooling savvy Whatsapp users into thinking you haven't read their message.

Unfortunately this will currently only be available on android phones.

Other updates include customised notification sounds depending on individual contacts or group conversations and a low data usage option for WhatsApp voice calls.

What we really need is an approval option before we're added to those dreaded group chats....
