After undergoing radiotherapy treatment, 35-year-old Nicola Cockx made the heroic decision to delay further treatment for myeloma, a bone marrow cancer, in attempt to make her dreams of being a mother come true.

Instead of starting potentially life-saving chemotherapy and having a stem cell transplant, Nicola chose to only use holistic remedies in an attempt to protect her baby. Nicola fell pregnant in 2011 and her daughter, Harriet, was born in 2012.

MIRACLE BABY SURVIVES MISCARRIAGE AND ABORTION PILL

Tragically, the incredible mother relapsed shortly after giving birth. When a bone marrow transplant wasn't successful in restoring Nicola's health, she died in February 2013 when baby Harriet was only 8 months of age.

Harriet's grandmother, Patricia Flowers, said Nicola "lit up a room when she walked in" and was "beautiful".

"She was an inspiration and I feel immensely proud of her," she continued.

What do you think of Nicola's decision? The ultimate selfless act or is leaving a baby without a mother shortsighted in itself?
