Chrissy Corbitt's baby was so big when she was born that she "looked like a toddler"
Childbirth isn't easy at the best of times.
(Understatement of the year...)
But at least new mothers can be safe in the knowledge that the average size of a newborn baby in the UK is less than 8lbs.
Girls, on average, weigh 7lb 4oz, with boys weighing just a little more at 7lb 8oz.
But one mum in the US recently gave birth to a baby nearly double that... Yowza.
Chrissy Corbitt, from Florida, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Carleigh on 15 May, weighing in at a pretty sizeable 13lbs 5oz - the weight of an average baby at three months!
Chrissy said to ABC News: "It looked they pulled a toddler out of my belly. She's so big!"
Carleigh, who is Chrissy and her husband Larry's fifth child, was so big that she was even shocking the medical staff.
Chrissy told the reporters: "When the doctor was pulling her out of me, I just start hearing them all laughing and excited in the operating room.
"They were throwing out numbers and when they showed her to me and said 13.5 I couldn’t believe it," she remembered.
Hubby Larry didn't quite know what all the fuss was about: "It was so funny because she had a C-section so all the blankets were over her so you couldn't see what was going on.
"The doctor said, 'Oh my gosh, she's going to be 15-pounds.' I remember the doctor saying, 'I don't think this baby is going to end. Are there two of them?'"
The new dad is completely besotted with his baby daughter: "Her cheeks were so chunky and she was just so fat. She was so gorgeous, of course."
Congratulations to the family!
