72-year-old nan Angela Nwachukwu has found a new lease of life after meeting her 27-year-old toyboy hubby on Facebook!

Angela Nwachukwu, a 72-year-old nan who lives in Dorset, has proven that distance definitely makes the heart grow fonder as she's currently in a long-distance marriage with her 27-year-old husband CJ who lives in Nigeria.

The unlikely couple met on Facebook after CJ sent Angela an unsolicited friendship request, and just two months later, she flew out to Nigeria to marry him.

However despite being married, the couple are having to live apart as CJ's visa to live in the UK has been denied.

And what's more, Angela - who has three grown sons and six grandchildren - has spent her £20,000 life savings trying to get her computer engineer husband into the country.

Talking about how their relationship began, Angela - who's a retired taxi driver - explained: "After my 16-year relationship ended, I felt lonely.

"After being single for six months, I saw that a young man had sent me a friend request on Facebook and I couldn’t believe my luck."

She continued: "I did wonder why on earth he had added me, but I accepted and he sent me a message straight away telling me how lovely my profile photo was.

"We chatted for hours, about our families and each other's’ hobbies - it was like we’d known each other for years."

Although their 45 year age gap might be a hurdle for some people, both CJ and Angela were able to see past it.

"He was six-years younger than my eldest grandchild so I knew it was wrong," Angela expalined, "but he was just so charming that I couldn’t help falling for him."

"It was only a few weeks since we’d been talking when CJ told me he had feelings for me and I was so happy."

Even though Angela was worried what her three sons - Phillip, 50, and Malcolm, 47 and Maurice, 43 - would think of CJ, they were soon won over after they realised CJ wasn't trying to scam their mum.

She explained: "[Malcolm] checked out CJ online and after seeing how squeaky clean all of his social media was, he felt he was genuine.

"They could all see how happy I was and that’s all they’ve ever wanted."

It was only one month after they started speaking online that CJ proposed - during a video call. Speaking about the wonderful moment, Angela explained: "I was so taken a back when he asked me to marry him out of the blue. At first I thought he was joking.

"He told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and I couldn’t believe my luck.

"Of course I said yes! There was such an amazing chemistry between us, I knew he was my soul mate."

The 72-year-old nan, who insists their love is genuine, went out and bought a blue dress for her wedding day and booked her flight to Nigeria while her fiancé bought their wedding rings.

However, it was only when she saw CJ for the first time in person that she knew he was The One.

"When I saw CJ at arrivals, I gave him a hug and he kissed me. From that moment on, I knew for sure that he was the right man for me," she gushed.

"I was worried about what his family would think of our relationship, but I was so relieved when they welcomed me with open arms.

"We’d planned to wait until the wedding night to consummate our relationship, but we couldn’t keep our hands off each other!"

The happy couple tied the knot infront of CJ's family and friends, and although none of Angela's family were able to attend the wedding due to the short notice, she was adament that she "had their blessings anyway."

Two weeks after their wedding day Angela flew back to England and sent off her application for a family visa so her husband could live with her, however she was left heartbroken when officials denied the visa as they believed the marriage only happened so CJ could live in the UK.

Defending her marriage, Angela said: "I’d never sent CJ any money, so I really couldn’t see why anyone would think our love wasn’t genuine.

"Over the following months I tried to appeal the decision, but it just broke my heart every time it was denied.

She added: "He wasn’t even allowed to visit me on a tourist visa because they thought he wouldn’t leave.

"I felt as though I’d waited so long for true love and now I’d finally found it, it was being kept from me.”

In fact, since tying the knot, the couple have only seen each other in person twice. Angela explained: "I was so determined to get him a visa I even hired lawyers to fight the decision," but added: "It cost so much money, but it was just no use."

Their back up plan is for CJ to complete his master's degree in computing in the UK on a student visa.

Despite the setbacks, Angela is trying to remain positive: "Even though we know it is unlikely that we’ll ever be able to live together, we love each other so much and our relationship is strong.

"I’m hoping to go to Africa later this year to visit him and I’m counting down the days until I can see him again."
