The horrified victim assumed she was dreaming at first, before coming to the awful realisation of the situation.
Preston Crown Court heard how the boy – now 15 – suffers from ADHD and regularly got into bed with his mother.
The Telegraph reports that prosecutor Francis McEntee said: “The allegation in this case is that the defendant raped his mother while she was asleep. The factual basis of this case is that he was in his mother’s bed.”
Mr McEntee continued that the boy – who can’t be named for legal reasons – admitted to getting into his mother’s bed because his was ‘uncomfortable’. He also confessed to finding her naked and laying on her side, before wrapping his arms around her.
According to reports, the mother said in her police interview: “I just know when I opened my eyes he was there. I don’t even know what I said. He scuttled out of the room and didn’t say anything.
“I just sat there holding my covers, screaming and thinking ‘what the hell’s just gone on?’ All sorts was going through my head. Is he just sleepwalking? Does he know what he’s doing? Does he know what he’s done?”
Her son, from Blackpool, has denied a charge of rape.
The trial continues.
