Police have reportedly received a number of calls after a mother shared pictures of her child appearing to smoke and drink alcohol.

The images- uploaded on June 17- show the toddler holding a rolled up cigarette over a lighter as well as drinking from a bottle of cider.

One of the pictures is captioned with: “My cute baby, you’re high, from your mother.”

The shocking caption has left many Facebook users speculating that the distressing image is showing the youngster smoking drugs.

The images were uploaded in Argentina, but the mother has not yet been named and the child also remains anonymous.

It is not yet known if police will launch an investigation into the distressing images.

The photographs have since been removed from Facebook after a number of complaints.

In the UK, children as young as 5 are allowed to drink very small amounts of alcohol within their own homes and with permission from their parents.

Drug laws in the UK enable children to be protected from the dangers of illegal drug use, and smoking is illegal for youngsters under the age of 18.
