Yumi Stynes, from Australia, was attending the Paddington premiere in Sydney on Sunday, and brought along her six-month-old daughter to the occasion.
But the mum-of-three was quickly slammed by newspaper columnist David Campbell, who said no parent ‘worth their salt’ would be caught without a change of clothes for their child.
MUM'S WARNING TO PARENTS OVER CAR SEAT MISTAKE
He added that the baby’s appearance in just a nappy was ‘weird.’
Leaping to his wife’s defence however, was Stynes husband Martin Bendeler, who said there was nothing unusual about doing this - especially as temperatures in the Australian city are reaching 26C.
‘If you’re offended by a six month old’s nipples, you’re weird,’ he said.
MUM'S TO BE WARNED OVER HAVING BABIES IN HOSPITAL
Campbell wrote that the baby’s appearance was the ‘one fashion faux pas on the red carpet.’
Ms Stynes also hit back at the columnist’s comments, writing that ‘Nicole Kidman dresses up for the red carpet. ‘WEIRDLY’ my baby doesn’t share the obligation.’
‘It’s important that men keep telling women how to dress and what to wear @DaveyCampbell85. Even 6-month-olds.’
