Cheryl Prudham, 32, made headlines recently when it emerged she'd had twin girls, thought to be costing the taxpayer another £1,400 a year.

Mum of 11 Cheryl- who rakes in £28,378 in benefits and tax credits despite the fact her husband Rob earns £1,600 a month as a delivery driver- is adamant the benefits system has encouraged her to have so many children.

While Cheryl hasn't had her benefits cut, thousands of families have been affected by the benefit cap, which was introduced across England, Scotland and Wales over the summer of 2013. It limits how much any one household can receive in state benefits- to £26k a year.

Cheryl's benefits haven't been capped because her husband works enough hours to claim working tax credit.

Cheryl says: "It's the government's fault I've got so many kids. It's easy to claim benefits. I've always wanted a big family and being a mum is the best feeling in the world. We didn't rush into the decision to have more children lightly but we knew we'd be able to afford it because we'd get more in child tax credits and child benefit.

"Rob recently started working full-time to support us and I used to be a care worker- we're not lazy layabouts."
