The results are in - and, according to Baby Centre UK, the most popular baby names in Britain this year are Muhammad and Sophia.
The baby names' chart ranks the names chosen by 56,157 BabyCentre.co.uk members who gave birth in 2014.
And results show that the name Muhammad isn't the only Arabic name to increase in popularity; Nur, a new entry in the girls’ top 100, has jumped straight to number 29, and Maryam has risen 59 places to number 35.
Omar, Ali, and Ibrahim are new to the boys’ top 100.
Sarah Redshaw, Managing Editor for BabyCentre, said: “Traditionally Muhammed is often given to the first-born boy in Muslim families.
“The increase of other Arabic names in the top 100 shows the ever-increasing diversity of the UK today.”
Redshaw also revealed that celebrity baby names have, again, been a huge influence on the general public.
