According to reports, a stranger tried to snatch her 5-year-old daughter from a park she was playing in.
The mum was at Dartmouth Park in Sandwell, West Midlands, when she noticed her young daughter had been wrapped in a red towel and was being led away by a strange woman.
The horrified parent told the Birmingham Mail: “I had only glanced away for a few seconds. When I looked again at the splash pad area I couldn’t see my daughter. I began panicking and was looking around. I then saw a woman heading towards the gates.
“My daughter was with her, covered in a red towel. I ran over to her. I said “what do you think you are doing?”. She said “she was freezing and I was trying to find you”.”
When the anxious mother took the little girl back, she asked her daughter why she didn’t point out where she was, to which the youngster worryingly replied: “I did mommy. I could see you I pointed and told her where you were.”
The woman has been described as mixed race, in her mid 30s, wearing a red t-shirt and with her hair worn in a bun.
A detective from the West Midlands Police has since said: “We are anxious to hear from anyone who may have seen what happened in the park yesterday, we believe there were a number of people about at the time.
“The child is safe and officers are continuing with their inquiries and checking local CCTV in a bid to identify the woman.
“While we are keeping an open mind regarding the incident, it is important to stress this is an isolated incident.”
