Magdelena Luczak, 29, was found guilty of murdering her son Daniel Pelka with the help of Pelka’s stepfather Mariusz Krezolek, 34.
The couple were jailed for a minimum of 30 years following their trial in 2013, after the judge found the child had endured years of starvation, beatings and mistreatment.
And on the day that would have been her son’s eigth birthday, Magdelena took her own life in the Derbyshire prison she was held in.
‘It doesn’t look like there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death at the moment,’ a spokesperson for HMP Foston Hall, Derbyshire, said.

The Ministry of Justice have also confirmed that the killer has died, after she was found unresponsive in her cell in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Magdelena’s son Daniel apparently resembled a ‘famine victim’ by the time of his death, having been forced to forage for scraps of food from the school bin and stole lunch from other pupils in order to get fed.
His weight plumetted to just 1.5 stone, but Pelka was missed by authorities and eventually died due to a severe blow to the head.
