Lauren Furneaux, from Michigan, USA, posted the last ever photo of her daughter Lily as she played by the Christmas Tree five years ago.

In a bid to raise awareness for child abuse, the grieving mother revelled how her daughter’s father and stepmum had picked Lily up, in order to spend the day with her at their trailer park home.

Once there, step mum Renee King sexually assaulted the two year old with an object, before slamming her head into the floor repeatedly.

This was allegedly all because the little girl had a tantrum and soiled her underwear.

This is the last picture I will ever have of my baby girl. 5 years ago right now she was eating lucky charms with my dad... > >

The horrific tale is told by mother Lauren in brutal detail - from the moment she handed her over to her father, to the hospital visit and the moment she discovered what had happened to her daughter.

‘I asked him if she was ok and he said no. I asked him if she was alive and he said no. My world came crashing down at that moment. When the detective came in later she asked what type of underwear was Lily wearing and asked if I helped wipe her that morning when she used the potty. I told her I did and she asked if there was blood. I told her no. My mom said why are you asking these questions. The detective said because Lily was severely sexually abused preceding her death.’

‘How do you go back into a house that the one person who made it a home is never coming back? How do you go on when all your hopes and dreams are taken away? It was just supposed to be 33 hours, not a lifetime. To this day I hate when my parents go anywhere far away because I'm scared something is going to happen.

‘To this day I can't go in that aisle of Walmart. To this day I can't wake up on November 20th and not replay every horrific moment. I miss you Lily to infinity and beyond always and forever and I will never stop fighting for you. So if you are still reading at this point please share Lily's story today. Please make a choice to be her voice because there is no excuse for child abuse. And please hug your children a little tighter and longer as none of us are promised tomorrow. Thank you all for your support! God bless you! #‎justiceforlily #‎lilysvoice #‎30daysoflily’

Renee Marie King was jailed for life back in 2012 for raping and murdering Lily, with mother Lauren giving a defiant speech to the mother of three.

‘As I will never see Lily’s first day of school, first date, first prom, her graduate, her wedding, her children, neither will you.

‘I get to have more children someday. And I get to hide Easter eggs, I get to get my daughter married, dressed for her wedding, my son for his wedding. I get to do all those things and you don’t.

‘You decided to take my world from me that day. So when you sit in front of a camera after Lily was killed asking if you could go to the funeral and crying because jail was too hard. Just wait, Renee, you have a whole lifetime of prison. Have fun. ... Life in prison is too easy for you. You took my daughter’s life and now the justice system gets to take yours.’
