Sabrina Bonner, 25, blindfolded her child and made him kneel on a chair, while 32-year-old Lionel Barthelemy carried out the shocking attack.
Barthelemy, who has been in prison since 2009 for domestic violence, received the same sentence from the court in Strasbourg, eastern France.
The couple admitted to multiple counts of rape and sexual assault on the boy, now 8, admitting that they had also filmed many of the assaults on their mobile phone- including the prison rape.
Bonner would even film her own sexual assaults on the child, transferring the phone’s memory card to her partner during visits between 2009 and 2010.
‘The behaviour of Sabrina B. is not even that of an animal towards its child,' said prosecutor Gilles Delorme, who also described Barthelemy as 'a sadist in the purest form'.
The case has raised questions over why the prison staff did not notice the attack taking place, with investigations revealing that black bin bags had been placed over the door to the apparently unsupervised visiting room.
A psychiatrist told the court that Barthelemy, who has ‘schizophrenic tendancies’, and partner Bonner had a 'sado-masochist relationship' in which each took turns to be 'master' and 'slave'.
Shortly before Barthelemy was due to be released in 2011, Bonner gave herself up to police claiming that she had carried out the attacks under the orders and threat of violence from Barthelemy.
