Ammash Qureshi, 35, who was in London at the time, reportedly told lover Yasmin Chaudry, 28, to drown her daughter after she interrupted their conversation.

The shocking murder is said to have taken place at the mother’s home in Norway during a cyber conversation in 2010.

Ms. Chaudry is said to have submerged her 22-month-old baby’s head underwater after Mr. Qureshi told her to ‘discipline’ her.

The baby died in hospital the following day, after Ms. Chaudry reported it as an accident.

The pair appeared at Oslo District Court and, while Mr. Qureshi denies any involvement in the child’s murder, Ms. Chaudry admitted to assaulting her, insisting she did not murder her child.

Speaking of the horrific murder, Prosecutor Cecilie Schlosser Moller said: “She was subjected to physical violence during disciplining. In the end, it went too far and she died.

“By submerging the girl in the bucket, they would have anticipated her death. She was a small, defenceless girl who was subjected to extensive abuse.”

In addition to the murder, Mr. Qureshi and Ms. Chaudry are accused of torturing the baby over a period of six months.

The trial continues.
