Leading aviation expert David Learmount has spoken out about what he thinks happened to missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.

As authorities prepare to publish a report tomorrow for the year anniversary since the plane last made contact, Mr Learmount has released his own theory on what happened to the aircraft, which carried 239 people.

He said: "We are no nearer discovering exactly what happened to this plane than we were a year ago.

"But all the evidence - and I mean all - suggests the aircraft went to a spot where its computers would never have taken it.

Families of MH370 passengers were sent this text from the airline, but Mr Learmount thinks there may be foul play

"It looks as if there was some kind of deliberate act. The plane changed direction dramatically. It did a U-turn and went somewhere that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

"The plane ducked and dived. If the pilots, for some reason, had become incapacitated then the plane would have flown on along its planned route.

"We have got to get used to the fact that we may never find this plane. The Australians have said the search can't be kept up for ever."

The international search for the plane has so far cost over £61 million, and those searching are focusing mainly on the south Indian Ocean.
