The victim, who was eight-and-a-half months pregnant, was attacked in her own home by three members of a gang, all of whom were armed with sledgehammers, axes and a claw hammers.
She and her husband had been watching TV when the gang forced themselves into their home, having mistaken the address for one of a known drug dealer.
The woman was then chased up the stairs by 23-year-old attacker Stewart Mercer, who took a swipe at her before smashing a TV in the bedroom and trailing her back downstairs.
Her husband, who had armed himself with a baseball bat, was forced into the living room, where two of the intruders shouted at him, demanding money and drugs.
He was then hit over the head with a sledgehammer, while the TV was smashed using the baseball bat.
It wasn't until the pregnant woman told the gang that the drug dealer lived up the street that the trio left the house - but not before beating the wounded man with his own baseball bat and stealing his car.
The couple's terrifying ordeal was heard at Belfast Crown Court yesterday when two men, 23-year-old Mercer and Stephen Douglas, 32, were jailed for their roles in the attack.
