The London Ambulance Service has issued an apology for the incident, and says it is looking into the circumstances of what happened.

After the woman was admitted to hospital on Monday evening, no foetal heartbeat was detected and the baby was declared dead.

Speaking about the incident, investigating officer Robert pack said: ‘It does appear to be a targeted offence, this wasn’t a random attack. Certainly we’re treating it akin to murder.’

‘From what we know at the moment, the working hypothesis is that it was targeted at that unborn child. There doesn’t appear to be any blows or physical force directed to her head or face.’

‘It seems all the violence was targeted towards the child.’

On Tuesday, a 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with the assault, and still remains in custody today.
