But the Brazilian, Aparecido Castaldo, has said there will be no intercourse to consummate the marriage.
Aparecido, 74, who has been married four times before and has eight children, is quick to defend his choice of bride: “Whenever someone says I am doing something wrong, I reply that the goat does not speak, ask for money to go shopping and doesn’t get pregnant- and she can’t talk”.
But the happy couple have already had to replace one of the wedding outfits. “Carmelita ate her first wedding dress but has been found another”, Aparecido said.
The wedding will happen in Igreja do Diabo, translated as ‘Devil’s Church’, and will be conducted by a bishop.
The bishop said: “This is not the first goat he had, because he likes animals. He just needs a companion.”
The ceremony will take place in Jundiai in Brazil on 13 October.
