Jon Winskill killed his wife, Denise Robinson-Winskill, when he reversed his four wheel drive truck over her at their farm.

The incident, which took place as Winskill was attempting to manoeuvre his truck back into its parking space, left him a widower - but he didn’t seem to grieve for long.

Because just two weeks later, and Jon was back on a dating website arranging dates with other women.

Explaining himself at the inquest into his wife’s death, Winskill said: ‘That was just my personal way of dealing with the shock and loneliness and coming to terms with what had happened.’

Questioning him on behalf of the wife’s family, which included her children from a previous marriage and her siblings, Richard Raymond asked: ‘So you've, frankly, run over your wife, and she has died as a consequence, and within two weeks . . . you've not only placed your profile on a website, you've actually arranged to meet and then date another woman. Haven't you?’

Winskill agreed, adding: ‘I do indeed. I'm appalled with my behaviour and it was very irrational and inappropriate and I apologise to any family members it has caused distress.’

The inquest continues.
