The man and his daughter reportedly were together for 16-years after starting a sexual relationship whilst she was in her teens.
The woman, who can’t be named for legal reasons, was separated from her father as a toddler and didn’t reunite with him until she was a teenager.
The then-14-year-old moved in with her long-lost father after she had a falling out with her stepfather.
A Leeds court heard that the teen’s relationship with her father progressed into a sexual one.
The couple’s first child was born in 2002. The father was then arrested and cautioned for incest in 2005, but by this point his daughter was already pregnant with her second child by him.
The couple continued to see each other and the woman later became pregnant with their third child.
Before jailing the father, judge Christopher Batty said in court: ‘At some point in the ensuing months you signed an agreement with Social Services you would not see each other and yet continued to do so.’
The man’s daughter accused him of being ‘controlling’ and ‘jealous.’
The judge continued: ‘Life was clearly unpleasant for her so much so that in 2012 she went to the police.’
The lawyer defending the father blamed his lack of contact with the girl as a child towards as a cause to his behaviour.
