Fair warning - the following story may ruin Subway (or, at the very least, spinach) for you forever.

According to KGW, Matt Jones was at a Subway in Lincoln City, Oregon with his pal.

The pair ordered two sandwiches with spinach… but they got something they DIDN’T order right along with it.

Yup, a dead mouse. How did you guess?

Sharing a photo of the dead rodent, which was mixed in with his salad leaves, Matt wrote on Facebook: “Look at that beast of a mouse in the spinach at Subway today!

“Good thing we didn't bite into it”

He added: “AMAZING! WTF!!! The manager was in shock!”

According to KGW, health inspectors were immediately called to the restaurant - which hasn’t been specified.

Director of Lincoln County Health and Human Services Cheryl Connell said: "The investigation determined that the rodent problem did not come from inside the facility.

“It was probably in a bag of the bagged spinach product, not from the facility itself.”

She added: ”Everything was sanitised and cleaned properly afterwards."

A spokesperson for Subway added: “As soon as the customer alerted the owner about what happened, they were immediately given a full refund and an investigation was launched.

“To be cautious, all of the products in the sandwich unit were disposed of and a thorough cleaning took place, in which the Health Department gave the restaurant a clean bill of health.

“There were no other complaints made.“
