While we’re all getting excited for Christmas, it’s important to remember that for some it’s the worst time of the year.

One person who knows this is Lee Houghton. Every morning Lee gets coffee for Simon.

LOVE IS ALL AROUND: CLOSER'S ADVENT CALENDAR OF REAL LIFE CHRISTMAS MIRACLES

Simon is a homeless man Lee met on his way to work four months ago. Now Lee tries to make time for Simon every morning before he starts work as a business analyst.

He drops coffee and croissant to Simon and the pair chat before Simon starts his job as a Big Issue seller.

Four months in and Lee was overwhelmed to receive the best thank you for his generosity.

Simon gave him a Christmas card, writing in it: “A big thank you for your support. Merry Christmas, from Simon.”

Lee told the Mirror he was overwhelmed by the gesture from Simon. He said: “It’s nice to talk, he hasn’t got many friends.

“It makes me feel good to do that, and just have a chat with him. He looked a bit cold when I first saw him, so I asked him if he wanted coffee.

“Simon has nowhere to live, so he’s sleeping on the streets, which pulls on the heartstrings.

“He does currently have a job as a Big Issue seller, but he’s had a rough childhood, he said he was trying to hold down a job he was offered, but he doesn’t have any education so he got let go.”

Now Pret A Manger are following in Lee’s generous footsteps and have given him a free gift card to help out with Simon’s coffee this December.
