Militants have released a video which shows pilot Muath al-Kaseasbeh being burned alive inside a cage.

The man had been in captivity since his plane crashed over Syria in December, and now the head of Jordanian armed forces has confirmed that he has been killed.

Kasasbeh was in a locked cage when he was set on fire

Kaseasbeh was on a bombing mission against the militants when his plane came down.

In the shocking video, the victim can be seen wearing an orange jumpsuit behind black bars. He is then set on fire while still alive.

President Obama was quick to condemn the death, saying this incident further points to the ‘viciousness and barbarity’ of the militant group.

‘Whatever ideology they’re operating off, it’s bankrupt’ the President added.

Intelligence agencies are now trying to determine the authenticity of the video, which has already been widely circulated on the internet.
