Following a huge man hunt yesterday, a man in Manchester has been arrested after a woman was raped in front at her home, in front of her baby.

Police were called to an address in Failsworth after a woman, 33, was raped and violently assaulted. Chillingly, her young child was present during the attack. The baby was unharmed but the woman is in hospital with serious injuries.

Shockingly, prior to this attack it’s believed the man attempted to rape another young woman, aged 24, in her home in Newtown Heath.

Police attended the scene after receiving reports that she had been attacked in her bedroom where she was asleep with her young son. It’s thought she escaped when her boyfriend disturbed the man and he fled the house.

Detective Inspector Chris Flint of North Manchester division said: “I would like to thank the local community for the support they have provided during this investigation.

Officers made an arrest this afternoon in Manchester city centre and he remains in police custody for questioning.”
