We’ve been waiting decades for a male contraceptive to enter the market, but something tells us that the men in our lives won’t be rushing for this slightly uncomfortable procedure.

Scientists have created a gel that is injected into mens’ testicles that filters to the sperm to stop it from escaping the body with ejaculation.

The man is able to ejaculate during sex, but won’t be able to impregnate their partner.

The injection does NOT prevent STIs, however.

Executive of the Male Contraceptive Initiative Aaron Hamlin told Vice: "There's nothing for you as a person to screw up.

"When you have a method that doesn't require you to do anything, like Vasalgel, you get the injection into the vas deferens and walk out the door.

The new contraception doesn't protect against STIs

"After all that's done, when it's time for you to have sex, everything you've had to do is already done."

If the gentleman wants to reverse the procedure, doctors flush out the gel with a sodium bicarbonate solution.

Their website says: "Human trials are expected to start in 2016 and 2017.

"If everything goes well and with enough public support, we hope to get Vasalgel on the market as early as 2018."
