According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Chris Columbus will be teaming up with Robin Williams and Elf screenwriter David Berenbaum to create a much anticipated sequel to the hit 90s movie.

For those of you who don’t remember the original movie (are there really that many of you out there?) Robin Williams plays Daniel Hillard, the ex wife of Sally Field’s character Miranda.

Daniel is given limited access to his beloved children (including Matilda star Mara Wilson) following a messy divorce.

In order to spend more time with his kids, he impersonates Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire, or Mrs Doubtfire as we come to know her as.

The stress of Daniel’s double life eventually takes it’s toll with disastrous consequences…

Pierce Brosnan also starred in the movie, but it is not yet known who will be joining funny man Robin Williams on set for the much awaited sequel.

The plot of Mrs Doubtfire’s next adventure is also unknown.

Based on the novel by Anne Fine, the film was released in the UK in January 1994 and made over £20 million at the box office on its release.

It has since become a family classic, enjoyed by parents and children the world over.
